A Jim Factor Novel

Jim Factor was a successful arms dealer until he made an ill-advised decision to consult in an illegal arms transaction. The fallout had him estranged from his family and former life and subservient to a Russian mafia boss, Dimitri Federov, heading up an arms manufacturing company in Varna, Bulgaria. Subsequent events led to his release from the obligation. Returning home, he and his wife, Diane, were targeted by a rival mafia organization and it brought him back to Bulgaria. Now, he is caught up in a potential mafia conflict and the Russian Federation Security Bureau, the old KGB, has become involved. To complicate matters, the Russian Federation President has made it clear he will not tolerate any open hostilities. Factor and Federov conceive a lengthy scam to forestall any of the rival’s actions while he strives to increase the company’s business with Russian aircraft manufacturers.

Meanwhile, Factor’s old employer, the U.S. Air Force intelligence agency is gathering evidence to determine if he is betraying his country. Unbeknownst to all, a former U.S. Russian specialist, Jurg Zakhar, out for revenge and inflame the mafias against each other plans selective killings in Varna. Factor and Federov must work together to perpetuate the scam, keep the FSB at bay, and assist the Varna police investigator, Inspector First Grade Petr Capek, in the manhunt. Sooner or later, the rival mafia mob will discover the ruse and marshal his forces against Federov who is determined to avoid any overt aggressive retribution. It is a tightrope act whose success is dependent on deception and timing.
